A Multi Site HR Scanning Project
The British Red Cross was started in 1863 and was inspired by a Swiss businessman, Henry Dunant. It was first known as The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
The British Red Cross is a volunteer led humanitarian organisation that helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. Areas of work covered include First aid, Emergency response to disasters in the UK and overseas, short term loans of wheelchairs and toilet aids, refugee and asylum seeker support and protecting people in armed conflict.
ORS Group were approached by The British Red Cross HR Department to discuss the digitisation of their paper based HR Files. After a brief consultation the project was agreed and a schedule of work put together. The HR Files were collected from 12 sites across the UK with around 4000 files collected in total.
All files were split down to and indexed under a document type, name and employee number. All images were sent back by secure file transfer, with all files loaded into The British Red Cross SharePoint system.
Once the project was complete, all paper files were indexed and placed into a central storage facility for a short period of time. A detailed report of each individual box was created to make accessing files quick and simple, should it be needed.
Like other organisations we have worked with in the past, The British Red Cross took advantage of the benefits of digital HR files. Benefits include minimising administrative effort, ensuring security and privacy, enabling staff sufficiency, enhancing existing HR software and setting up fast workflows.
