ORS Finds A New Home For National Housing Federation Paper Records
Since its establishment in 1935, the National Housing Federation (NHF) has represented over 1,400 independent non-profit housing associations, which provide over 2 million UK homes.
Over their 70 year history, the National Housing Federation has accumulated a high number of paper records and when the organisation decided to move to new premises, there was simply no space for these records. ORS faced the huge challenge of collecting all the paper records and scanning them at ORS’s production facility.
Unlike other organisations scanning their archives, the National Housing Federation access their files regularly, so it was important that documents only be unavailable or offsite for a very short amount of time.
Document types scanned
- Accounts Payable Invoices
- Payroll paper records
- HR paper records
- Member files
- Pension files
After careful review of the National Housing Federation’s requirements, ORS proposed a simple three stage solution:
The file scanning process produced three valuable data streams
- Files securely shipped to ORS high-speed production facility
- All documents scanned and indexed
- Scanned documents available to retrieve and view via the ORS ImageStream software
Three Months Later
The National Housing Federation took possession of 100 CDs containing the entire paper mountain of documents, far more easy to access (and easier to lift) than the originals.
“ORS provided us with a solution and service that made our office move less stressful, whilst also helping to improve the service we can now offer our members.”
Jane Greenoak, Director of Corporate Services, National Housing Federation
