High volume document capture for BBMhigh-volume document captureA wealth of experience unites to get Crossrail on track – with the help of ORS Group…….

Four of the world’s leading construction companies, Balfour Beatty, BeMo Tunnelling, Morgan Sindall and Vinci Construction have established BBMV, an integrated team to deliver major packages of the Crossrail Project safely and efficiently.  Connecting the City, Canary Wharf, the West End and Heathrow Airport to commuter areas east and west of London, Crossrail is a major new rail link project designed to provide a world-class, affordable railway with high frequency, convenient and accessible services across the capital.

ORS Group were successfully selected as the joint venture companies preferred supplier for their high-volume document capture requirements relating to the Crossrail C510 Whitechapel and Liverpool Street Station Tunnels.  The major construction works for C510 began in April 2011 and during the course of the 5 ½ year project, significant amounts of paperwork were created and used to back up the construction process. Documentation types were vast and included everything that a project of this size and nature requires to be concluded on schedule including, Employee applications, training manuals, sickness reports, daily timesheets, health and safety sign off forms, architectural plans, O&M Manuals, Purchase Orders, Purchase Invoices and goods receipts, to name but a few.

High volume document scanning

Part of the requirement of the project, for legal purposes, was that each of the four BBMV joint venture companies needed to retain a copy of all paperwork used during the project.  On successful completion of the Crossrail C510 project, ORS Group were asked to collect documentation from four locations across the City of London, including the main Finsbury Circus Tunnel shaft and transport it to ORS’s secure document capture facility in Chandlers Ford, Hampshire. There, ORS confidentially prepared, scanned and characterised the paperwork and created an electronic copy of all documentation for each of the joint venture companies.  This enabled BBMV to be able to destroy the original paperwork, rather than having to store it offsite with associated ongoing storage and retrieval costs.  Each of the Joint Venture companies now have a copy of all project documentation electronically and can access all information quickly and easily when needed with the added bonus of having a DR back up for the whole C510 documentation.
